Too many LAN cables?

Try taking on this suggestion from Fraser Place in Salcedo.

(LAN cables used to keep small trees in place(for Typhoon Frank I think).
There's a whole row of em but I only got to take this one.)

Do the environment a favor and recycle those LAN cables =)

Just a little bossy

I LOVE IT! Lindsay Lohan's new single "BOSSY" is the new bitch anthem. Can't wait for her new album to come out. I've never been a fan of her music until I heard this one.

Expensive snowcones anyone?

How much are you willing to pay for flavored ice?

In another one of my "try something new" escapades last night, I tried the Krispy Kreme Chillers selection, specifically the Very Berry flavor. I should have known better than to
think that everything in Krispy Kreme was heaven
. It was nothing more than 16 oz of sweet berry-like red shaved ice worth P135 Ahuhuhu! =( Sa bagay, the name did read "Chillers" and not "Juice" or "Smoothie" tsk tsk tsk. Lesson learned: Krispy Kreme is for doughnuts while Jugo Juice is for smoothies.

Hong Kong for P26

Who says 26 bucks can't buy you anything filling? While crossing through St. Francis Square from Podium to Megamall, Pau and I stumbled upon a seemingly popular stall(judging on the long line) called Hong Kong Style Noodle. For just P26 per bowl (or small cup), you get fried noodles with bean sprouts plus 2 pieces siomai. Once you get your order, you have a choice of mixing in any of the 6 sauces laid out for the customers - from Oyster sauce to sweet chili (ala Mongolian style buffet). Doesn't taste exceptional but its not bad either. Just filling enough para pampalipas gutom. Check it out.

30 list

"Oh my God James you're old na!"

Loren pretty much summed up all my age apprehesions when she innocent proclaimed this to my officemates over dinner last night. Gee thanks a lot Loren. I really appreciated that =p

So anyway, just to assure myself that my 30 years on this planet have not been wasted, I thought I'd make one of those cliche "30 things I learned at 30" list. Nothing too serious here. And I won't explain each item because it'll be too boring and loooong (I prefer short blogs). So here's my list:

1.) Its always better to laugh and cry with someone else.
2.) Know when to say sorry (its just pride).
3.) Some things are really better left unsaid.
4.)
Know where you derive your personal meaning.
5.) Love someone else but love yourself back.
6.) Don't take yourself too seriously.
7.) Treat yourself...a lot.
8.) Don't be afraid to see the world.
9.) Learn to appreciate the small things.
10.) There will always be something new to learn.
11.) Make your own decisions and own up to it.
12.) Don't be afraid to break the rules.
13.) Dance like no one's watching (literally).
14.) You can't always blame the alcohol.
15.) Tequila does not mix well with beer.
16.) Learn a vice but dont stick to it.
17.) Find humor in everything.
18.) Be naughty but look good doing it.
19.) Work hard but party harder.
20.) Shop like there's no tommorow (maybe once in a while).
21.)
Stay away from toxic people.
22.) Patience is hard but rewarding.
23.)
Compliment others and mean it.
24.) Inspiration is meant to be shared.
25.)
While the Church may not be on your side, God is.
26.) Don't expect apparitions and dancing suns.
27.) No matter what kind of a rut you're in, all shall be well.
28.) You don't have to believe everything you were taught growing up.
29.) Have some drama in your life.
30.) Keep a blog to prove your sanity.

I just realized I can go on and on. So I HAVE learned a couple of things after all. Each item on the list is a blog entry waiting to happen. Oh well let's see. In the meantime...Cheers!

Finding God in a bad joke

An hour after I wrote down my last angsty entry, I took a cab to my Salcedo office. Right after I told the driver where I wanted to go, the first thing he said to me was:

"Alam nyo po ba na merong mga baklang pulis? Lalake sila sa operation pero pag may mga events sama-sama yan sila lahat. Merong mga silahis pero meron ding baklang-bakla talaga."

What the?! ...But it was SO HILARIOUS and totally uncalled for that I forgot what I was worrying about. The conversation didn't go far though. He wouldnt say where he got the information from (and why would nyone be interested....right? RIGHT?! =p)

The cabbie didn't know it but that story was what I needed today. God really is in the unexpected (even if its a discriminatory joke haha).

All too familiar feeling

I had wished last night that I wouldn't wake up today. Its just one of those days...or weeks...or months when you loose the light at the end of the tunnel and decide to just rot inside. When you're too tired of telling yourself to go on and feel that any effort you do is not worth it. When you stop caring about whatever or whoever it is waiting for you when you get out. It's an all too familiar feeling that I've been playing with in my head and I need to get out of. Either I'm being overdramatic(as I tend to be) or I've been watching too many art films.

Of course I know better than to literally "give up". I know life is much more bigger than what I'm going through right now. And I know I'm not alone in dealing with this. It just sucks to be in this situation (again!). To deal with entities who act as if the world revolves around them and people who make you feel you need to earn your right to live .

Anyway, I know I'll get out of it. I'd like to think I'm getting better at blocking the people I don't need.
I've done it before and I'm supposedly wiser now. I guess sometimes you need to feel down so you don't forget how it feels.

Gelo conquers the world

My other Stikfas entries

I'm no Dairy Queen

Don't bother getting excited about the new Dairy Queen because its not as yummy as it used to be. Well, at least not the Mud Pie Blizzard (which used to a favorite). While its not as expensive as before(my medium-sized Blizzard cost only P80), I feel they sacrificed the quality of the ingredients. My Mud Pie Blizzard tasted like a creamy low grade MILO-ish ice cream mixed with Oreos. Sad =( I got so frustrated with it I only ate half and threw away the rest. I don't recall having ever done that any ice cream...EVER. I'm a major dessert guy so for me to throw away something like that was big. Oh well.

I'm willing to give it another try though (Yes I have faith in DQ!). Maybe the branch I ordered from (Robinson's Galleria) was just a sucky one.

Brand Camp: The Five Stages of Missing Plan

How to address each stage(according to me):

For DENIAL (Jan to Feb)
Get HR or Marketing to organize a sales kick-off in some fancy resort with eat-all-you-can food and drink-all-you-can beer. Once the Sales and Marketing teams are drunk, hand them to their sales commitment papers for the year and make them sign it.

For ANGER (March to May)
Get Marketing to launch a kick-ass advertising campaign with celebrity endorsers. This will temporarily distract all employees while creating buzz about the product in the market.

For BARGAINING(June to Sept)
Get the Finance, Sales and Marketing heads in one room and announce to the organization that the quotas are being "revisited".

For DEPRESSION (Oct to Nov)
Get the CEO to call for a an organization-wide meeting and counter the negative aura in the room with good news (like "we have hired a new Marketing guy that will get us out of this rut") and stories of inspiration ("I know I have the best team members in industry"). But, the CEO must, in no way, change the original target. While this is happening, get HR to release early the mandated extra month bonus (this should be the last item on the CEO's speech).

For ACCEPTANCE (Dec)
Sales and Marketing underlings hold each others hand and come up with kamikaze promos and price dives. HR to organize a christmas party telling every that its alright (but that the cycle will start again come January).
